Adult Leader Support Needed

Sixth Crossing to Rock Creek Hollow | July 6–9, 2026
28 mile trek over two days

Purpose

We invite each ward to help identify adults who can serve in vital roles for Trek. These leaders will ensure our youth have a safe, uplifting, and testimony-building experience as they walk in the footsteps of the pioneers.

Key Roles

1. Trek "Mas and Pas" (Adult Couples)

  • Serve as parents to a Trek “family” of 8–10 youth
  • Walk the trail with them, providing love, guidance, and daily support
  • Assist with handcarts and meet the physical demands of the Trek
  • Address the physical, spiritual, and emotional needs of the youth
  • Ask and answer spiritual questions
  • Help youth apply gospel principles to their lives
  • Create a safe, inclusive atmosphere (guidance, comfort, direction)
  • Be prepared to lead family devotionals

2. Support Crew & Specialists

  • Equipment – load/unload camp gear at the Stake Center and on Trek
  • Transportation – drive support vehicles and assist with camp moves
  • Food – help with meal preparation, serving, and cleanup
  • Medical – walk the trail or staff camp; provide first aid and care (medical professionals especially needed). We seek as complete a list of medical professionals as possible.
  • Music – provide music for firesides, the dance, and/or serve as caller
  • Games & Activities – plan pioneer-appropriate fun trail and camp activities
  • Family History & Temple Prep – lead an activity helping youth find a pioneer ancestor (not necessarily a handcart pioneer)

Consider individuals who may benefit from serving alongside their own youth or who would benefit from a non-traditional way to serve.

Additional Opportunities

Not everyone will walk the trail, but many can still contribute:

  • Before Trek: sew pioneer clothing, sew family flags, gather supplies, organize equipment
  • Send-off & Arrival: set up, manage logistics, and warmly welcome trekkers home
  • Camp-based Roles: assist from camp locations without walking the trail

What We Need from Each Ward

  • A list of recommended Mas and Pas (adult couples)
  • Names of adults who could serve in support roles (walking or camp-based)
  • Provide a list of all medical professionals from your ward
  • A Trek ward rep to assist with communication and organization
  • Suggestions of those who cannot attend Trek but could help with preparation, send-off, or arrival

Next Steps

Please prayerfully consider members of your ward who could serve. Return names to the Stake Trek Committee by October 10.

Together, we can help our youth discover that the Lord is with them, He stands by them, and He strengthens them—just as He did for the pioneers.
